Subjective assessment of seniors on the phenomenon of discrimination: Analysis against the background of the Europe 2020 Strategy implementation

This study aimed to compare objective factors increasing discrimination and subjective feelings of seniors about discrimination. Additionally, we have attempted to indicate whether the elderly is discriminated against and to what extent they report such situations.

The Impact of Ageing on the Tourism Industry: An Approach to the Senior Tourist Profile.

The elderly population presents a market of particular relevance to a large number of industries for its high purchasing power, comparatively higher than younger groups. Specifically, the tourism sector is emerging as one of the biggest beneficiaries of the aging process as a result of changes in the lifestyle of the population currently, more leisure-oriented than previous generations. However, the tourist companies are facing difficulties in understanding these consumers, whose behavior is different as mentioned, from that of older people in the past.

Environmental skills gaps in tourism and hospitality organisations: evidence from Europe.

This research analyses the current self-reported level of proficiency of environmental skills, the required future level of proficiency, and the gaps between them. Given the increasingly urgent need for the tourism industry to take action to support environmental management practices, this research provides evidence of key environmental skill gaps. The findings revealed that the country of registration, the size and the tourism sector type influence significantly the current and future proficiency levels of environmental skills, and the gaps between them.
