Eurostat: Population structure by major age groups

This article looks at the impact of demographic ageing within the European Union (EU), which is likely to be of major significance in the coming decades. Consistently low birth rates and higher life expectancy are transforming the shape of the EU’s age pyramid; probably the most important change will be the marked transition towards a much older population structure, a development which is already apparent in several EU Member States. Data presented in this article can also help assess if there has been an impact by the COVID-19 pandemic on the size and structure of the EU population.

Tourism related needs in the context of Senior's living and social conditions,

The main aim of our research was the recognition of the needs of senior tourists from selected regions of Poland, considering their health and financial situation as well as their physical activity. The analysis of physical and tourist activity showed that non-participation in tourism is associated with low physical activity. Women reported that they were satisfied with their financial independence and most often used the opportunity of short-term tourism.

Tourism statistics are not only used to monitor the EU’s tourism policies but also its regional and sustainable development policies.
