Travel and retirement status. Annals of Tourism Research.

Travel and retirement situation. Research shows that travel is a desirable activity among retirees. But surveys on the relationship between retirement and travel are limited, being based on the notion of retirement at 65, a criterion that has been disproved given recent social, political and economic changes. Four separate analyzes are made: the relationship between a given retirement situation and constraints on travel, use of information, practical elements of travel, and participation in activities. Similarities and differences emerge from the survey. The trips are neither more nor less frequent after retirement, and the interest remains constant. Differences may be caused by age or labor force participation.
