Profiling the senior traveler: An Australian perspective

Recently, the behavior of senior travelers has become an important area of interest because of its market size and potential for growth. This study describes a study profiling senior travelers according to their demographic and psychographic characteristics. Six market segments were used to highlight the differences that exist in terms of holiday attractions, travel motivations, and information sources used among senior travelers when planning and choosing a holiday. Seniors are shown not to be a uniform conservative market, which has implications for marketing and product development.

Psychologically, tourism provides the greatest benefits for older travelers, as tourism provides the means by which many older adults are able to seek happiness and positive feelings related to their well-being and quality of life. This is because it helps improve mood while creating a positive outlook, feelings of wellbeing, and cheerfulness for older tourists. This conceptual paper focuses on how travel contributes to older tourists’ feelings of happiness and well-being.

The article presents an attempt to summarize the specific risks and problems that the tourism sector will have to face in connection with the increases in the retirement age. Along with this, the opportunities and prospects that are opened up to the industry as a whole and the development of particular types of tourism and tourism sub-sectors are identified and analyzed under the condition that the increases in the retirement age are indeed accompanied, as it is planned, by overall improvements in the socioeconomic activity, productivity and paying capacity of senior citizens.

Subjective assessment of seniors on the phenomenon of discrimination: Analysis against the background of the Europe 2020 Strategy implementation

This study aimed to compare objective factors increasing discrimination and subjective feelings of seniors about discrimination. Additionally, we have attempted to indicate whether the elderly is discriminated against and to what extent they report such situations.

Tourism related needs in the context of Senior's living and social conditions,

The main aim of our research was the recognition of the needs of senior tourists from selected regions of Poland, considering their health and financial situation as well as their physical activity. The analysis of physical and tourist activity showed that non-participation in tourism is associated with low physical activity. Women reported that they were satisfied with their financial independence and most often used the opportunity of short-term tourism.

Tourism statistics are not only used to monitor the EU’s tourism policies but also its regional and sustainable development policies.
