This paper is designed to address questions and concerns about population ageing. It targets government decision-makers at all levels, the nongovernmental sector and the private sector, all of whom are responsible for the formulation of policies and programmes on ageing.

Publication, representing a collaboration of over 20 United Nations entities and major international organizations working in the field of ageing, reviews policies and action taken by governments and other stakeholders providing many inspiring examples of innovative programmes that address population ageing and the concerns of older persons.

Developing age-friendly cities and communities (AFCC) is a proven way to create more age-friendly environments – for everyone. This guide provides direction to national authorities and stakeholders responsible for or involved in forming or sustaining national programmes for AFCC.

Travel and retirement situation. Research shows that travel is a desirable activity among retirees. But surveys on the relationship between retirement and travel are limited, being based on the notion of retirement at 65, a criterion that has been disproved given recent social, political and economic changes. Four separate analyzes are made: the relationship between a given retirement situation and constraints on travel, use of information, practical elements of travel, and participation in activities. Similarities and differences emerge from the survey.
